
March 25, New Delhi – The Khelo India Tribal Games will begin in the state of Chhattisgarh today.
The event will take place across three cities – Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Surguja – from March 25th to April 3rd.
1,300 athletes will compete for 16 gold medals.
The Games will feature seven medal sports – athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming, and wrestling.
There will also be two demonstration sports – Malkhamb and Kabaddi.
Odisha has fielded the largest contingent of 125 athletes from among the 30 participating states and union territories.
The Games are part of the Khelo India Scheme – a flagship program of the Government of India aimed at promoting mass participation and sporting excellence.
