
Jalna, February 22 A priest has been booked for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy at a pilgrimage center in Ghansawangi tehsil in Jalna district, Maharashtra, a police official said on Sunday.
A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for penetration-related sexual assault and other offenses was registered on February 18 against Jamb Samarth priest Nilesh Shashikant Kulkarni (28) based on a complaint by the father of a 13-year-old boy, said Ghansawangi police station sub-inspector AK Dhakne.
"Kulkarni, who resides in Donagaon in Paroda tehsil of Dharashiv district, is accused of luring the child into his room with chocolates and then sexually assaulting him. He is also alleged to have threatened the victim not to disclose the incident to anyone," he added.
Further investigation is underway to determine if there are more victims, the official said.
