Ujjain, April 10 A two-and-a-half-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in a village in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district was rescued on Friday after nearly 23 hours of rescue operations and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead after examination, officials said.

The toddler, Bhagirath, fell into the borewell in Jhalariya village, under the Badnagar tehsil, about 75 km from the district headquarters, around 7:30 pm on Thursday, triggering a massive rescue operation involving multiple teams, including one from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Ujjain Collector Roshan Kumar Singh said the child was rescued and rushed to a civil hospital in an ambulance for immediate medical examination after being pulled out of the borewell.
