
Thane, March 17 Police have seized 405 LPG cylinders, including 96 filled ones, allegedly stored illegally for sale, in Bhiwandi in the district, an official said on Tuesday.
A First Information Report was registered at the Narpoli police station on Monday under the Essential Commodities Act and the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, he said.
"Acting on a tip-off, officials from the rationing department conducted a raid and found a large number of LPG cylinders stored illegally. A total of 405 cylinders were seized, of which 96 were filled with gas," said the official from the Narpoli police station.
The raiding team also seized trucks and tempos used for transporting the cylinders.
"The total value of the seized goods is estimated at Rs 18,78,600. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway," the officer said.
No arrests have been made so far.
