Preparations for the 8-km Razdan Pass Tunnel (suitable for all weather) to begin shortly: Deputy CM

Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, today informed the Legislative Assembly that preparations for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the eight-kilometer-long tunnel at Razdan Pass in Bandipora District are likely to begin shortly.

Srinagar, February 19: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, today informed the Legislative Assembly that preparations for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the eight-kilometer-long tunnel at Razdan Pass in Bandipora District are likely to begin shortly.

The Deputy CM was responding to a question raised by Legislator, Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurez), in the Legislative Assembly.

Choudhary stated that the tunnel at Razdan Pass will facilitate all-weather connectivity to the strategically important border constituency, Gurez.

He said that the construction of the tunnel at Razdhan Pass has been approved by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) to provide all-weather connectivity, and the preparation of the DPR is expected to begin shortly.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that regular snow clearance is being carried out by BEACON to provide connectivity to the Gurez sector, adding that the road is kept closed for almost one month, or partially closed during winters, due to snowfall, snow accumulation, and on the directions of the civil administration for the safety of road users.
