New Delhi, April 8 The BJP is arresting AAP workers in Gujarat because it is scared of the party's expanding reach in the state, a party leader said on Wednesday.
Anurag Dhanda, Aam Aadmi Party's national media in-charge, said that BJP leaders have threatened the mother of Gopal Italia, an AAP MLA from Gujarat, and the government there has arrested several of the party's members.
"In the past few days, 160 Aam Aadmi Party workers have been arrested in Gujarat. Now they are planning to arrest Gopal Italia in a fabricated case. They are trying to intimidate him and his family," Dhanda said.
There was no immediate response from the BJP on the allegations.
"The way AAP is reaching every village, every booth in Gujarat, the BJP is afraid. Your attempts to intimidate us through jail and legal cases, or any other undemocratic means, are futile. These are AAP workers, and we are not afraid," Dhanda said.
The AAP leader also alleged that the BJP secured a victory in Delhi through underhanded means.
"We will answer by uprooting Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his roots in Gujarat," Dhanda said.
He also accused the ECI of "talking like a political party" in a social media post.
