Chandigarh, April 11 AAP leader Baltej Pannu on Saturday accused the Haryana government of failing to implement the Ayushman scheme and urged Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to focus on the state's health system, which he described as "on life support" instead of targeting Punjab.
Pannu, who is the media in-charge for AAP Punjab, questioned where poor patients in Haryana would go for treatment if the scheme collapses.
Citing a warning from the Indian Medical Association, Pannu said that due to pending payments under the scheme, many private hospitals may stop providing treatment to beneficiaries.
He stated that the Haryana government has failed to effectively implement the Ayushman scheme, claiming that healthcare services in the state are "on life support."
Pannu also compared healthcare services in Punjab and Haryana, stating that while schemes in Haryana are struggling, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is providing cashless treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh under its 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna'.
He claimed that over 35 lakh families in Punjab have been covered under the scheme, calling it a major relief for people.
Pannu said that the Haryana chief minister should focus on resolving issues in his own state instead of criticizing Punjab.
He added that initiatives such as 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' and improved government hospitals have strengthened the healthcare system in Punjab.
Alleging that treatment under the Ayushman scheme has nearly stopped in Haryana, Pannu said the state government must explain the situation to the public.
He further advised Saini to avoid "misleading statements" and said that people are aware of the ground reality and can judge the performance of governments.
