Abdullah Attack: Jharkhand CM Demands Action.webp

Ranchi, March 12 Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday said the violent attack on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah deserves condemnation and strict action.

Abdullah, 88, the president of the National Conference, had a narrow escape when a gunman allegedly opened fire at him from behind while he was leaving a wedding at Greater Kailash on the outskirts of Jammu on Wednesday night.

The accused, identified as 63-year-old Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi in Jammu, has been arrested, and he told the police that he had been waiting for an opportunity to target Abdullah for the past 20 years.

"I am relieved to hear that Dr. Farooq Abdullah is safe after the unfortunate firing incident. This violent act deserves severe condemnation and strict action," Soren posted on X.

The CM wished Abdullah good health and safety.

Police are examining Jamwal's background, including his personal, social, and possible organizational links, to determine the motive behind the firing incident.
