Thane, March 11 A man with a criminal history was arrested at the Mumbai international airport on Wednesday in connection with a 2023 murder and extortion case involving an organized crime syndicate, a Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police officer said.
The accused, identified as Nisar Ahmed Fazal Ahmed Sheikh alias Pappu Pager, had been evading arrest for more than two years.
He was apprehended by the Crime Branch after he arrived at the airport from abroad.
"The arrested accused was hiding in Dubai. After receiving specific intelligence that he would be landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on March 11, our team moved in and took him into custody," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode told
