
Pune, March 31 Police on Tuesday registered a case against Pune-based activist and content creator Santosh Pandit for allegedly sexually harassing a female journalist, an official said.
The FIR against him was filed at the Parvati police station.
The female journalist, who works for a television channel in the city, said the incident took place on Monday when she was covering a protest organized in the city in connection with cases against arrested self-proclaimed godman Ashok Kharat.
In the complaint, the victim alleged that a social activist had organized the protest, where several media reporters were present covering the same. Pandit, who arrived at the location, started using obscene language and hurling abuses as he accused the journalists of causing a traffic jam on the road.
Pandit then made obscene comments about the complainant's attire, and then sexually harassed her by staring inappropriately at her, it added.
Pandit is known for raising civic issues on his social media accounts.
Based on the complaint, the accused has been booked under sections 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking), 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 196 (obscene acts) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police said.
