Activists Claim Superstition Prevents Access to Tehsil Building.webp

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, March 28 Some villagers and activists on Saturday claimed that the western gate of the Kinwat tehsil office in the Nanded district has remained closed since it was made due to "superstition," a charge denied by the administration.

The tehsil building was constructed a few years ago, but the gate has remained closed, although all shops serving people coming there are on the western side, said Ramesh Kadam, a functionary of the Shetkari Sanghatana.

"This is due to superstition. Someone instructed the authorities not to open this gate. It is causing inconvenience to people. They have to walk a long distance to access the building from the eastern gate," Kadam alleged.

When contacted, the Nanded district administration denied these claims.

"The western gate is not the main entrance to the building. Moreover, there is a women's toilet nearby. We have kept the gate closed for the safety of women. There is no question of superstition playing any role," the official said.
