
Hyderabad, April 3 Expressing concern over certain provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026, recently passed by parliament, activists, including transgender individuals, plan to present their grievances to the government and seek legal redress.
Rachana Mudraboyina, a transgender activist, said on Friday that the activists have submitted representations to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister of Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and also Telangana Minister for Scheduled Castes Development and Empowerment of Transgender Persons, Adluri Laxman Kumar.
Mudraboyina said a meeting, named 'Andhra Swabhimana Sabha', is planned to be held in Andhra Pradesh to demonstrate the numerical strength of transgender individuals.
The aim is also to highlight the diverse culture of transgender people.
"Our concern is that the new act reversed self-identification. It establishes a medical board to obtain a certificate," Mudraboyina told
