
The National Human Rights Commission held a meeting of its Core Group on the Right to Food and Nutrition in New Delhi today. The meeting focused on the theme "Combating Food Adulteration in India: Understanding the Scale, Challenges, and Reforms." NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian chaired the session. During his address, Justice Ramasubramanian highlighted India's evolving legal framework to combat food adulteration. He noted that sustained efforts have been made over the decades to address adulteration at various levels.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from central and state governments, statutory bodies, human rights defenders, consumer activists, academics, representatives from civil society, and domain experts.
