JAMMU, MARCH 27: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary stated that the government will take corrective measures to ensure ethical news dissemination while addressing fake news and misinformation.

Responding to a discussion in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, he highlighted the evolving challenges posed by social media and urged the media to introspect and maintain credibility through responsible conduct and self-discipline.

He emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in strengthening Jammu and Kashmir and called for collective efforts to ensure accurate and ethical information sharing.

During the discussion, members from all parties supported stronger regulation to curb misinformation while safeguarding freedom of speech. Suggestions included a robust legal framework, fact-checking mechanisms, regulation of digital platforms, and accountability measures for those spreading fake news.
