
Lucknow, March 15 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday issued directives for an immediate assessment of crop damage in the state's western region due to rainfall, the government said in a statement.
"District magistrates must go out to the field to ensure an immediate assessment of the damage to crops. The relief commissioner will maintain direct coordination with officials at the field level," Adityanath directed.
He also instructed that, upon receiving the assessment of crop damage, arrangements must be made for the timely distribution of compensation.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department said on Sunday that moderate thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain are very likely in parts of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur districts and adjoining areas.
