Lucknow, March 13 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Friday that India continues to progress on the path of development despite global conflicts and economic uncertainty, thanks to "capable leadership".
The chief minister was speaking here at the launch of projects under the Green Corridor initiative worth Rs 1,519 crore.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ensuring accelerated growth in every important sector of the country. Uttar Pradesh, he asserted, will play its role, with Lucknow emerging as a hub for advanced infrastructure, new technologies, and defence equipment.
The chief minister said the Green Corridor project was realized due to the vision of Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh.
The corridor will significantly reduce travel time across the city by reducing it to just 15 minutes, which earlier took an hour to cover, he said.
Adityanath said that the transformation of the city is visible to visitors from across India and abroad. "Today, anyone who comes to Lucknow, they say there is cleanliness, and something new has been done in the state capital," he said.
He said that the project, along with initiatives such as the expansion of the Lucknow Metro and outer ring corridors like Kisan Path, would further strengthen connectivity in the state capital.
He also reiterated the state government's goal to make Uttar Pradesh a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2029-30, with urbanisation and infrastructure development playing a key role.
Describing the project as a model of resource management in urban development, Adityanath said that the Lucknow Development Authority executed the Rs 1,519 crore initiative without a separate budget by freeing government land from encroachments and generating resources from its use.
Two phases of the project – from IIM Road to Pakka Pul and from Pakka Pul (Daliganj) to Samatamulak Chauraha – have been completed and inaugurated, while the foundation stone for the third and fourth phases from Samatamulak Chauraha to Shaheed Path and from Shaheed Path to Kisan Path has been laid, he said.
Adityanath said that the entire corridor, planned to be about 28 km long, will connect key parts of the state capital and significantly improve traffic flow.
