
Gorakhpur (UP), March 27 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed 'Kanya Pujan' on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri at the Gorakhnath Temple, according to an official statement.
The chief minister, who is also the head of the Gorakshapeeth, worshipped nine young girls representing the 'Nav Durga' forms as part of the ritual held in the temple, the statement said.
Following tradition, he washed their feet, performed an aarti, and offered food, gifts, and 'Dakshina', it said.
Adityanath also performed 'Batuk Pujan' and personally served food to the girls and 'batuks' (young boys).
Rituals were also performed at the temple's Shaktipeeth, earlier in the day, where Goddess Siddhidatri was worshipped.
The event was attended by the temple's chief priest, Yogi Kamalnath, along with several saints and members of the temple management.
