March 26, New Delhi – Senegal has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport following the decision to overturn the country's victory in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Morocco.
Senegal won the final against Morocco 1-0 on January 18, but the score was later changed to a 3-0 victory for Morocco.
Senegal's players walked off the field in protest when the hosts, Morocco, were awarded a penalty in stoppage time, before eventually returning.
Following an appeal from Morocco, the Confederation of African Football ruled that Senegal had forfeited the match, with the result being recorded as 3-0 in favour of Morocco.
CAS confirmed that the formal process had now been initiated by the Senegalese Football Federation, which seeks to overturn the CAF decision and declare them the winners.
