Agra (UP), March 12 Two people were killed and 24 others were injured after a speeding truck collided with a pickup van on the southern bypass in the Kiravali area here, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night, when the victims were travelling in a Mahindra Max to attend a wedding function, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sonam Aditya said the van was attempting to turn onto the service road from the southern bypass. A speeding truck coming from behind hit the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
"Two people, identified as Harish (45) and Sahab Singh (50), died on the spot, while twenty-four others sustained injuries and have been admitted to the Sarojini Naidu Medical College," the officer said.
The condition of some of the injured remains critical.
The truck has been seized while the driver is still at large. Further investigation is underway, he added.
