Srinagar, March 24 A two-day Agro and Food Fest Buyer-Seller Meet began in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, with the aim of promoting agricultural products from the Union Territory and strengthening market connections.
The event, jointly organized by the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) at the SKICC here, brings together key stakeholders from the agro and food industry, officials said.
They said the event will provide a platform for farmers, exporters, and industry leaders to engage directly with buyers from around the globe.
The event aims to showcase J-K's agro and food products and offer a platform for farmers, exporters, and industry leaders to engage directly with buyers from across the globe, officials said.
Speaking to reporters, Sachin Kumar from the TPCI said that approximately 50 buyers from different countries are expected to attend.
"We will have buyers from over 16 countries, including the UK, Sweden, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the UAE. The major opportunity we see through these buyers is the export potential for products, especially saffron, fresh produce, honey, and dry fruits," he said.
"Getting feedback from these buyers will also help us to understand which markets will be most profitable for these products. These buyers also act as educators for these exporters," he added.
Kumar said the event provides a good opportunity for both exporters and buyers.
