AI Strategy: Modi Outlines Human-Centric Approach.webp

February 17, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined his vision for India's AI future in an interview, emphasizing that technology must serve humanity, not replace it, and that AI development must remain human-centric.

He said India is building the infrastructure, policy ecosystem, and skills base required not just to participate in the AI revolution but to shape it. The Prime Minister stressed that India's IT sector should lead in building AI products, platforms, and solutions for both domestic and global markets.

Describing AI as a force-multiplier, he said India aims to be among the top three global AI superpowers — not only in consumption but also in creation. He added that Indian AI models should serve billions worldwide in native languages, while startups generate high-value jobs.

Highlighting the IndiaAI Mission, he said AI must reflect India's values and position the country as a responsible global leader. The Prime Minister underscored sovereignty, inclusivity, and innovation as the three pillars of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in AI.

He asserted that AI should dissolve divides rather than deepen them, and that while technology may change the nature of work, it creates new opportunities. He emphasized that ultimate decision-making must remain with humans and called for global principles and standards in AI governance.
