
February 19, New Delhi – Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, today welcomed participants to the first AI Summit in the Global South, describing it as the largest AI gathering to date, with representation from 118 countries. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of democratizing technology and stated that artificial intelligence is a foundational force transforming how people work, learn, and make decisions.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted on X, stating, "Welcome to the first AI Summit in the Global South and the largest AI Summit so far! We have participation from 118 countries."
The Minister thanked the participants for making the summit a resounding success. He stated that AI is a foundational technology that is already transforming how people work, learn, and make decisions. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that the true value of technology lies in ensuring that its benefits reach the masses, and that his vision is to democratize technology, deploy it at scale, and make it accessible to all.
