AIADMK Seeks Alliance Discussions Amidst Election Preparations.webp

New Delhi/Chennai, March 3 AIADMK will soon begin talks with its allies regarding seat allocation, its chief Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Tuesday, and asserted that there was no confusion within the NDA led by the party in the state, as speculated by the media.

The confusion appears to be limited to the DMK combine, and it is uncertain whether the Congress will continue to be part of the alliance, he said.

"We have formed a strong alliance in Tamil Nadu, and the AIADMK-led NDA will ensure victory in the upcoming Assembly elections, and the AIADMK will form the government," Palaniswami, the general secretary of the AIADMK, told reporters in the national capital before departing for Chennai.

He had called on BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence on March 2, and discussed the political situation in Tamil Nadu and the possibility of jointly contesting the elections.

"We will begin talks with our allies regarding seat allocation," he said in response to a question, adding that there was no need to rush, as the election schedule had not yet been announced.

Asked if any new parties would join the NDA, the former Chief Minister replied, "There is a possibility that some parties will join soon. We are currently in talks."

Regarding whether the party announced by expelled leader V K Sasikala would also join, he stated, "There was no discussion on this."
