
The Assam government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India for the development of five new greenfield airports in the state.
The MoU, signed in Guwahati on Friday, outlines a plan for the Assam Government and the Airports Authority of India to conduct preliminary feasibility studies for the proposed airports, which include locations such as the Manas National Park, Umrangso, Majuli, and Diphu. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior officials from the Airports Authority were present at the signing ceremony.
The agreement aims to improve regional air connectivity, promote tourism, stimulate economic development, and expand commercial and strategic opportunities in Assam.
