New Delhi, March 30 Akasa Air announced on Monday that it has taken delivery of six Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft in the first quarter of this year, bringing the airline's total fleet size to 37.

The airline, which began operations in August 2022, has placed orders for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and the remaining 189 aircraft are expected to join the fleet over the next six years.

"The first leg of the delivery flight for the 36th aircraft commenced from Seattle, USA to Keflavik, Iceland, and concluded with the final leg from Cairo, Egypt, to Bengaluru, India.

"The Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft, bearing registration number VT-YBJ, arrived at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on March 30, 2026. The 37th aircraft (Boeing 737 MAX 8-200) bearing registration VT-YBI completed its ceremonial handover in Seattle and is expected to arrive in India by the first week of April 2026," the airline said in a statement.

The airline had faced delays in aircraft deliveries due to various reasons.
