Akhilesh Yadav: BJP's 'Achhe Din' Promise Fails on LPG Supply.webp

Lucknow, March 11 Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government on Wednesday of causing a shortage in the supply of domestic cooking gas, alleging that the government had failed to ensure the smooth distribution of LPG cylinders, and claiming that people were being denied refills despite waiting in long queues.

In a post on X, the Samajwadi Party chief said that the BJP's promise of "achhe din" (good days) had proven to be empty, and that the situation had left many households struggling to cook meals.

"The cylinder of BJP's 'achhe din' is empty," Yadav wrote.

He claimed that consumers waiting for hours in queues were being told that LPG cylinders would not be delivered unless they had a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC).

He also posted a purported video of people queuing up outside refilling booths with cylinders. However, it is not clear where this video was shot.

According to Yadav, people were questioning why they should suffer if the servers of gas companies were down and DAC numbers were not being generated.

"Maintaining the server is the government's responsibility," Yadav said.

He further alleged that denying cylinders on the pretext of checking old passbooks was "inhuman" as children and the elderly were going hungry.

He also accused BJP leaders and workers of encouraging the black marketing of LPG cylinders, claiming that desperate consumers were being forced to pay several times the normal price in the black market.

"Earlier, people were searching for oxygen cylinders, now they are searching for cooking gas cylinders," the former chief minister said, referring to the alleged shortage of oxygen cylinders reported during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yadav alleged that the BJP government has pushed families to the brink of hunger, and accused its leadership of being absent during the crisis, questioning whether BJP leaders would arrange food for people or organize community meals to feed those struggling due to the alleged shortage.

At many places across Uttar Pradesh, people have complained of delays in getting LPG cylinders.
