Mumbai, April 3 – Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has been quietly supporting the martial arts community, a fact that contestant Vispy revealed during an episode of the quiz reality show, Wheel of Fortune.
Following the intense "Double Dhamaka" round, Vispy took a moment to express his gratitude to Akshay for his support of martial arts students.
Vispy revealed to the audience that he has been a student of Akshay's training programs for many years.
He highlighted how Akshay helps students train in Thailand and also provides financial support for their participation in international competitions.
He said, "Sir, I have been your student for many years. I want to say that Akshay Sir selects many deserving students and sends them to Thailand for training, and also provides financial assistance for them to participate in international competitions."
He also expressed his gratitude for Akshay's role in popularizing Kudo, a hybrid martial art, in India.
Instead of focusing on his financial contributions, Akshay chose to focus on the core values of the sport that have shaped his own life.
He stated, "I just want to say that self-discipline is one of the most important things. There is no age limit for learning martial arts."
For those unfamiliar, Akshay himself is a long-time practitioner of martial arts and other similar forms.
The actor prefers to perform high-end stunts himself in his movies, without the use of a stunt double.
