Mumbai, April 6 – The trailer for Akshay Kumar's 'Bhooth Bangla' was unveiled on Monday. The film marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. And judging by the looks of it, the makers are playing it safe to cater to market demands and the audience.

While the trailer does reveal an engaging storyline that balances humor with horror, it tries too hard to appeal to a wide audience. Beneath the surface, one can clearly see elements from classic films, some from Akshay Kumar's own repertoire.

For instance, the mansion shown in the trailer appears to be the same as the one used in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'. Old dialogues that have become legendary memes have been re-used and included in the trailer to generate laughs. However, the most prominent inclusion is the song 'Ram Ji Bhala Karein', which features the iconic hook line from the National Award-winning Bengali film 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne', directed by Satyajit Ray.

In fact, the dynamic between Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav is reminiscent of their chemistry in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'.

The film also stars Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Mithila Palkar. Earlier, the makers of the film decided to postpone its release date. Co-producer Ektaa Kapoor shared a creative on her Instagram, informing her followers about the change in the film's release date. The makers decided to postpone the release of the film due to the exceptional performance of Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'.

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films, 'Bhooth Bangla' is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor.

The film will be released in cinemas on April 16, 2026.
