
March 12, New Delhi – World number one Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Indian Wells Open quarter-finals with a straight-set victory over the 13th seed, Casper Ruud.
The two-time former champion secured a 6-1, 7-6 victory and will next face British player Cameron Norrie, after the 27th seed defeated Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata.
The 11th seed, Daniil Medvedev of Russia, also qualified for the last eight after easily defeating local favourite Alex Michelsen.
World number two, Iga Swiatek, dominated her fourth-round match against Karolina Muchova with a 6-2, 6-0 victory, producing a commanding performance. The Pole won 10 consecutive games to secure her fifth victory over Muchova.
American Jessica Pegula also qualified for the last eight, with the fifth seed defeating Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.
