Anand, Apr 11 Eighteen people were arrested in Anand, Gujarat, for allegedly consuming liquor at a party in a state where the manufacture, sale, storage, and consumption of alcohol are prohibited.

They were apprehended after a farmhouse owned by Parikshit Mistry near Umeta was raided on Friday night, based on a tip-off, leading to the seizure of beer cans, phones, and cars, according to Anklav police station inspector PJ Batva.

"The arrested individuals include 15 men, including Mistry's brother Dharmesh, and three women. They are residents of Vadodara and business partners. Efforts are underway to apprehend Mistry and the supplier of the alcohol," the official said.

A case has been registered under the Prohibition Act, and medical examinations are being conducted to confirm alcohol consumption, he added.
