Chennai, March 13 Weeks after announcing the launch of her political party, expelled AIADMK leader V K Sasikala on Friday announced the name of the organization – All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam.
On February 24, coinciding with the 74th birth anniversary of late AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, her close aide Sasikala unveiled the party flag at Kamuthi in Ramanathapuram district.
The new party's symbol will be 'coconut grove', which symbolizes unity that she has always strived for, Sasikala told reporters.
In response to a question, she said the party would contest the upcoming Assembly elections in alliance.
Elaborating on her party's plan, Sasikala said, "Did you see our party symbol? It is the coconut grove. We always think of it as a collective grove."
"We will form an alliance with like-minded parties. Some people prefer to contest alone, saying they do not need an alliance. But we are not like that. I want to clearly state that we must work for the people of Tamil Nadu," she said.
In response to another query, she recalled that there is a proverb in Tamil – "A single tree does not make a grove." "True to that proverb, we have not come as a single tree. We have come as a grove. That grove consists of our party workers and the people," she said.
"We will work together with (alliance) parties that share the same views and ideologies we follow," she said.
From now on, the party's journey will be a journey of victory. "People are the final masters. I have faith in them that they will deliver a good verdict (in the forthcoming assembly polls)," she said.
