Shimla, March 9 A first-year law student from Himachal Pradesh University was arrested on Monday for allegedly stabbing a person with a sharp object during a scuffle between two groups, police said.

The accused, identified as Mohit Dogra (26), a resident of Sundernagar in Mandi district, has been apprehended, they said.

According to the complainant, Mukesh Kumar, the altercation broke out between two groups on the law department campus. Around 1:30 pm, Dogra emerged from the gate, pulled out a knife, and threatened to kill Yograj, Dhanraj, and Aman in front of his friends.

Dogra then attacked Dhanraj, resulting in injuries. Dhanraj was immediately taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College for treatment, as stated in the complaint.

Dogra has been booked under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said.

Dhanraj's condition is reportedly stable. Further investigation is ongoing, they said.
