Maharajganj (UP), March 30 A man was arrested here on Monday for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman under the guise of a marriage, officials said.
The accused, Asraf Ali (19), had been in a relationship with the complainant for one and a half months. He had promised to marry her and allegedly had a physical relationship with her under this pretext, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Siddharth said.
The ASP said that an FIR was registered against the accused on March 13 at the Brijmanganj police station here in connection with the matter.
The accused was arrested on Monday afternoon, he said, and added that a detailed investigation is underway.
