Amaravati Declared Andhra Pradesh's Sole Capital.webp

President Droupadi Murmu has given her approval to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, officially designating Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh. A notification from the Ministry of Law stated that the President gave her approval to the Bill yesterday. Following her approval, the bill has now become law. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha had passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 last week during the Budget session. The new law grants Amaravati the status of the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill 2026, which amended the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016, has also received the President's approval.
