Mumbai, April 7 Actress Ameesha Patel and director Siddharth Anand, known for films like ‘Pathaan’, ‘War’, and ‘Fighter’, have strongly reacted to comedian Zakir Khan’s remarks about the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ and the industry professionals who are not pleased with it.
On Tuesday, Ameesha Patel posted on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Hey, stop spreading negativity! The film industry has valued and respected ‘Dhurandhar’! Superstars like SRK, SALMAN, SUNNY, HRITHIK, AJAY, etc., have given not just one, but multiple mega hits, and will continue to do so. Relax, everyone loves ‘Dhurandhar’, and they will keep loving it”.
During a recent awards show, Zakir, who was the host, said, “No matter how many congratulatory posts you make, or how many stories you share, or how many times you say ‘my favourite film’ in interviews, the truth is that everyone loves ‘Dhurandhar’”.
His comment drew laughter, with many seeing it as a light-hearted jab. However, it has also angered a section of the industry.
Siddharth Anand also expressed his disapproval of the joke, writing, “The people of Juhu and Bandra have given us all ATBBs (all-time blockbusters) for the past 50 years. It takes a real idiot to undermine their contribution”.
The recent awards ceremony has come under scrutiny due to controversial statements made by the show's hosts.
Elsewhere, during the awards ceremony, another host made a sarcastic remark about Rajpal Yadav, pointing out his case of financial irregularities, saying, “No matter how much the dollar rate fluctuates, you have to return the same amount of money”.
Rajpal Yadav was convicted in a cheque bounce case by the Delhi High Court. He was accused by Murli Projects Pvt Ltd of defaulting on repayment.
A few weeks ago, the court asked Yadav if he had taken the loan, to which he replied in the affirmative. The court then told Yadav that he had been given several chances but he had failed to comply.
