
New Delhi, April 3 Fines and imprisonment under two sections of the Delhi Police Act 1978 will no longer apply after the passage of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026.
The Bill, passed by Parliament on Thursday, proposes to remove penalties for specific provisions that are considered outdated or minor.
Under the changes, Section 95 of the Delhi Police Act – which penalizes allowing a child under seven years to cause disturbance in public places with a fine of up to Rs 100 – will be removed.
Section 102 (c), which makes it an offense to be found in any building or vehicle without a satisfactory explanation between sunset and sunrise, and is punishable with up to three months imprisonment, will also be removed.
