Amethi Incident: Police Action After Petrol Pump Disturbance.webp

Amethi (UP), March 27 Uttar Pradesh Police have booked 30 individuals and arrested four people following a violent dispute over fuel distribution at a petrol pump in the Mohanganj area here, officials said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at the Sundari petrol pump, they said.

Eyewitnesses reported that the tension began when petrol pump staff allegedly refused to sell fuel to some customers while providing it to others in containers, police said.

According to the police, when Sub-Inspector Saiyam Babu Khan arrived with a team, a mob surrounded the police vehicle, with some individuals climbing onto the bonnet to create a commotion.

Based on Sub-Inspector Khan's complaint, the police have booked Sufiyan Ahmed, Abu Saif, Abu Zaid, Faizan, and Mohammad Ghazali, all residents of Mohanganj Bhelai Kala, along with 25 others under relevant sections of the BNS, police said.

Later, the police arrested four individuals -- Sufiyan Ahmed, Abu Saif, Faizan, and Mohammad Ghazali -- said Mohanganj Inspector-in-Charge Rakesh Kumar.

Arun Singh, owner of the Visheshwarganj petrol pump, said that supply is stable, noting a surge in "panic buying".
