New Delhi, March 22 Describing it as a milestone built on service, hard work, and unwavering commitment, Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has served for 8,931 days in public life, first as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and now as the Prime Minister, reflects a deep dedication to nation-first governance, integrity in action, and tireless service to every citizen.
In a message on X, Shah said that Prime Minister Modi surpassed the 8,930-day record of former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling to become the longest-serving head of government in India.
"Modi Ji's decades of service have shaped a new era. Whether it is giving the poor their rights, setting new landmarks in development, or enhancing the nation's pride on global platforms, the Modi era has transformed India unrecognizably," Shah said.
Fostering this new India required a lifetime's effort, and Prime Minister Modi has given it, he said.
"Serving the nation and its people without taking a holiday for more than 24 years is a testament to his sheer commitment. This explains the unprecedented affection he has received, both as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and as the Prime Minister of India. People's trust, affection, and support for him have only grown with every passing day," Shah said.
Describing this achievement as a "milestone built on service, hard work, and unwavering commitment," Shah wrote in the post, "A rare legacy built on unprecedented trust and unparalleled service. #PradhanSevakModi."
Modi took the oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2021.
He continued in the post until May 26, 2014, when he took oath as the Prime Minister after leading the BJP to a spectacular victory with 282 seats in the general elections, making it the first non-Congress party to secure a clear majority, decimating the grand old party to a mere 44 seats.
