
Chennai, March 28 The NDA constituent, AMMK, released the list of its 11 candidates for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, fielding two former ministers and former MLAs among others.
At a press conference here, founder of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, TTV Dhinakaran, also released the party's manifesto for the elections.
Former minister G Senthamizhan has been fielded from the Saidapet constituency in Chennai, a seat he previously represented during the 2011-16 period when he was also a minister in the J Jayalalithaa-led cabinet.
Similarly, former minister C Shanmugavelu has been nominated from Madathukulam (Tiruppur district).
Dhinakaran also named candidates for the constituencies of Tiruchirappalli West, Periakulam (SC), Oddapidaram (SC), Poonamallee (SC), Mannargudi, Thiruvaiyaru, Karaikudi, Tirupathur and Nanguneri.
The party, a constituent of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, has been allocated 11 seats by the coalition leader.
The AMMK's manifesto promised, among other things, efforts to secure the Bharat Ratna for the late freedom fighter Pon Muthuramalinga Thevar and the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, along with various farmer welfare activities, including promoting natural farming.
