
Amaravati, March 26 The Andhra Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday approved a decision to convene the legislative assembly to pass a resolution for achieving clear legal recognition and legitimacy for Amaravati as the state capital.
According to this approval, the assembly will pass a resolution requesting the Central Government to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, which deals with the common capital for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
"The cabinet has approved the assembly to pass a resolution requesting the Central Government to amend section 5 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014," said an official press release.
The resolution will request the Centre to recognize Amaravati as the capital.
The assembly is scheduled to meet on Saturday, March 28, where this resolution could be passed.
Furthermore, the cabinet also gave its nod to establish 99 new courts and to create 1730 posts to work in them.
