
Amaravati, March 17 The Andhra Pradesh government released Rs 45 crore to imams and mouzans across the state on Tuesday as part of the honorarium being extended to them under the NDA regime.
The funds were released on the orders of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the run-up to the Ramzan festival.
"As per Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's orders, Rs 45 crore has been released as honorarium to imams and mouzans," said an official press release.
Honoraria that had been pending for six months have been cleared, following Naidu's participation in the state Iftar on Monday night.
Across the state, 10,000 imams and mouzans have been credited with the honorarium funds.
As many as 5,000 imams received Rs 35 crore as honorarium for six months while an equal number of mouzans received Rs 15 crore for a similar timeframe, the press release added.
