March 24, New Delhi – Batter Anushka Sharma has earned her first call-up to the squad for the upcoming five-match T20 International series against South Africa.
Sharma had a memorable debut in the Women's Premier League earlier this year, scoring 177 runs in seven games.
Fast bowler Kashvee Gautam, who has also played in ODIs and Tests, is also in line for his T20 International debut after being included in the squad.
Wicketkeeper Uma Chetry also returns to the squad. Harmanpreet Kaur leads the 15-member team, which will play a five-match series starting on April 17.
India will aim to build on the momentum from their series win against Australia and fine-tune their performances ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup, which starts on June 12.
