March 26, New Delhi: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that his country has permitted the passage of vessels from friendly nations, including India, through the Strait of Hormuz.

This move comes after UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged the reopening of the waterway, warning that its closure disrupts global supplies and worsens humanitarian and economic conditions.

Araghchi clarified, "The Strait of Hormuz is not completely closed—it is closed only to enemies. We are in a state of war, and the region is a war zone. There is no reason to allow ships of our enemies and their allies to pass. However, it is open to others. Some ships avoid passing due to insecurity or insurance restrictions, while for friendly countries, our armed forces have provided safe passage."
