
Chandigarh, April 9 The Punjab Police announced on Thursday that it had uncovered an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module with the arrest of two individuals.
Five hand grenades, two detonators, and improvised explosive device (IED) material were recovered from them.
The police said the recovery indicated preparations for high-impact attacks aimed at disrupting peace in the state.
"In a major breakthrough, the District Police of Amritsar Rural and Gurdaspur, along with the Central Agencies, have busted an #ISI-sponsored BKI terror module operated by a foreign-based handler, and have arrested two accused," said Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
"Significant recoveries include: 5 hand grenades, 2 special detonators, a PTT timer with coder & decoder, a 9V battery, IED material (1 kg of high explosive packed with nails), and 1 Baofeng walkie-talkie with cable & trigger mechanism, indicating preparations for high-impact attacks aimed at disrupting public peace," Yadav said on X.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act.
"Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages, including foreign handlers and local support networks," Yadav added.
