Itanagar, April 9 Illegal cannabis cultivation covering an area of 20,000 square meters was destroyed in the Pakke Kessang district of Arunachal Pradesh, officials said on Thursday.

The operation was carried out near the Sede Natung village in the Lemmi police station area, based on a tip-off, they said.

The plants were uprooted, cut, and subsequently burned on-site as part of the destruction process, they added.

Superintendent of Police Swati Singh said that such operations will continue to curb the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants in the district.
