Reasi, February 23: Nitish Suri, the Central Project Officer for the Aspirational Block of Thakrakote, who is also the Director, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, reviewed the progress of developmental works in the block during a meeting with district and block officers.

Officials briefed him on achievements in key sectors, including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare. The Chief Planning Officer informed that the block is monitored on 38 indicators, with 100% progress in several and over 90% saturation in key performance indicators.

Suri emphasized improving learning outcomes, addressing gaps in school infrastructure and staffing, and promoting women's economic empowerment through the Lakhpati Didis program. Deputy Commissioner of Reasi, Nidhi Malik, highlighted ongoing activities under Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0, aimed at achieving 100% saturation in key indicators by April 14, 2026.

Connectivity under the BharatNet project and electrification of all gram panchayats were also reviewed. Suri visited the Health and Wellness Centre and the Government Middle School in Thakrakote to assess the facilities and directed proper staff deployment for the new academic session.

During his visit to the Pannasa Panchayat, local residents raised issues related to school upgradation, roads, ambulance services, a bank branch, the Jal Jeevan Mission, health facilities, and the promotion of self-help groups. He assured that genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned departments.

Emphasizing transparency and public participation, Suri urged citizens to engage in social audits and ensure the effective utilization of funds. He also inspected departmental stalls showcasing various schemes and planted a sapling as part of an environmental initiative.
