
Tezpur, March 22 Six people were killed and two others were injured when an ambulance in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Assam's Sonipur district on Sunday night, police said.
The ambulance, carrying a patient and family members, was on its way to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital when the collision occurred on National Highway 15 under the Dhekiajuli police station limits, Sonipur Senior Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayasta said.
"Six people died on the spot, and the two critically injured have been shifted to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital," he said.
Police and emergency service teams rushed to the accident site, initiated a rescue operation, and cleared the highway, the officer added.
