
UPPL Announces First List of Candidates for 2026 Assam Assembly Elections
The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly election.
Speaking at a press conference in Kokrajhar on Monday evening, UPPL General Secretary Raju Kumar Narzary formally announced the names of seven candidates who will contest from various constituencies, primarily in the Bodoland region.
The list includes prominent party leaders, including former BTC CEM and UPPL president Pramod Boro from the Tamulpur (ST) constituency, former ABSU president Dipen Boro from the Udalguri (ST) constituency, UPPL General Secretary Raju Kumar Narzary from the Dotma (ST) constituency, and sitting MLA Lawrence Islary from Kokrajhar (ST).
According to the list, Aninda Basumatary will contest from Gossaigaon, former BTC deputy speaker Nerswn Boro will contest from the Bhergaon constituency, and former MLA Kamalsingh Narzary will contest from the Bijni constituency.
Notably, Promod Boro, who was recently unopposed elected to the Rajya Sabha as a candidate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), will represent the party in the Tamulpur seat in the upcoming elections.
