
Diphu (Assam), March 13 At least four people were killed and 10 others injured on Saturday when a bus they were travelling in lost control and crashed into a roadside tree in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam, officials said.
According to a senior official, the incident occurred at Lakkhijan, within the Bokajan police station limits, early in the morning when the bus was travelling from Moirabari in the central Assam district of Morigaon to Dimapur in Nagaland.
"The bus apparently lost control while attempting to navigate a curve and hit a roadside tree. Four passengers, including the driver, were killed instantly," he added.
Police have reached the scene and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
"We have also sent 10 people, including a child, to a hospital in Dimapur for treatment," the official said.
The deceased have been identified as Abdul Barek, Khalil Rahman, Chabina Sultana, and Alal Uddin.
