
Former Assam Congress Chief Bhupen Borah Joins BJP
Guwahati, February 22: Former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Bhupen Kumar Borah, formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today.
The joining ceremony took place at the BJP's state office, where Bhupen Borah was joined by former Congress general secretary Dr. Sanju Bora, as well as several leaders and workers from different parties and organizations.
Senior BJP leaders present at the event included BJP state president Dilip Saikia, and BJP national vice-president and election in-charge, Baijayant Jay Panda.
It is worth noting that Bhupen Borah recently resigned from the Indian National Congress.
Addressing the media at the end of the event, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Bhupen Borah and Sanju Borah had joined the BJP and were warmly welcomed into the party. He stated that Bhupen Borah no longer has any affiliation with the Congress and will now work to strengthen the BJP.
The Chief Minister added that there may be some bitterness after leaving the Congress, but those differences should be forgotten. He said that Bhupen Borah would now work for the BJP's ideology and development-oriented agenda, and that the BJP family would stand by him.
